The Montgó

As we approach Jávea the skyline is dominated by the Montgó mountain.

This avant-garde church opened in 1967 has fantastic architacture and a ceiling that resembles a ships hull.

Javea's fortified Gothic church in the old town centre.

Close to the church we stumble upon the town's Archaeological Museum!

Amphorae

Amongst other interesting exhibits, the Museum has a fine collection of amphorae from various origins.

La Marina Lunch

Just a few miles along the coast from the busy holiday resort of Terrevieja....

we enjoy lunch beside the secluded dune-backed beaches of Playa de La Marina

Even amongst La Manga's high rise blocks we find a peaceful spot beside the Mar Menor

Cabo de Palos

At the southern tip of La Manga lies this traditional village and lighthouse

There's a marine reserve here and a very nice shipwreck to dive.....

The brand new Museum was inaugurated on the 26th November and we visit on the 28th!

Isaac Peral's Submarine

Stands proudly amidst a water fountain on Cartagena's harbour front beside the all new Museum.

Launched in 1888, its ability to fire torpedoes under water, whilst maintaining full propulsive power and control has led some to acclaim it the first U-boat.
