Our Journey Continues
Our adventure started on Wednesday 12th
December 2007. Having
sold up, we headed straight for the ferry at Portsmouth, bound for Bilbao............................
Returning to Spain from a Christmas visit to the UK to see family &
friends in January 2009, we became somewhat enchanted by the many charms
of Sierra Espuña and in particular the village and people of El Berro. ""Abuelo
me dijo,"aquí es el centro del universo"" said one of our close Spanish
friends and we believe this to be very true!
On the campsite, we made
friends with many people; other travellers returning on annual
pilgrimages, a few folk that had not been able to ever escape and of
course many of the warm and friendly villagers.
Days became weeks, became months, until one day in March when a little
Spanish dog wandered into our lives.................
"N
o,
we can't have a dog!" said Alison. "Oh pleeease, he is so good and will be
a great guard dog on our travels!" I said. "I don't even like dogs and we
certainly can't have one whilst we're living in a Motorhome!" The
conversation continued along these lines for a few days until finally
Alison said the magic words I had been waiting for..."of course if we
lived in a house it would be different"
Two days
later and we had rented a super little caseta, complete with swimming pool,
in the neighbouring village of Gebas!
There is so
much to say about our time spent in Sierra Espuña but I think Alison sums
it up nicely here.
Well three
years have now passed and we have finally broken free from the grasp of
Espuña's magical spell. Apart from annual trips to and from the UK,
briefly passing through France, Belgium, Holland, Germany and Luxembourg,
Nel our much loved old Hymer Motorhome has been having an easy life, but
now she has been cleaned, polished, oiled, serviced and reloaded ready for
the continuation of our adventure....
Please
rejoin us and follow our journey as we continue to travel through Europe
in our search for inspiration, new direction, good weather and cheaper
alcohol!
On the
following pages you will find photos, excerpts from Alison's daily diary,
our experiences and general observations.
Amongst the
text you will find links to campsites and places of interest that we have
visited and also the occasional video clip to download/view.
