Time to get involved?

I am very pleased to announce that the NAS has planned and submitted a project proposal to English Heritage to create a Norman’s Bay Designated Wreck Diver Trail this year.

The aim of the project, is to develop and install a guided diver trail around the wreck site.

The planned project will install a number of observation stations around the wreck and provide an underwater information booklet, guiding divers around the site in conjunction with the observation stations, explaining the exposed remains and detailing brief background information on the wreck.
The project also aims to involve the Marine Conservation Society and Seasearch, providing information about the marine life around the wreck as well as involving divers in wildlife surveys and assessments.
As well as providing the trail for recreational divers the aim of the project is to eventually carry out further assessments and investigations to help identify the wreck.

The project has already won support in the form of a generous grant from the Lloyds Register LR250 fund. (www.lr250.org), thanks to a very successful application made by Lloyds Register employee and N.A.S. member, Vince Jenkins.
