A Maritime Archaeological project that aims to resolve the identity of a shipwreck and complete a maritime story of survival against the forces of war, nature, time and tide.
On the 17th of April 2005 Scuba Divers discover a huge anchor surrounded by many large iron cannon whilst freeing a trapped lobster pot and so started the next chapter......
Is the Normans Bay protected wreck site the remains of the English Warship Resolution or could it in fact be that of an allied Dutch Warship lost during the Battle of Beachy Head in 1690? Whatever the final resolution may be, the Resolution Project aims to collate past and present research to help understand and identify the now protected Normans Bay shipwreck and by disseminating all findings, we hope to encourage wider public awareness and value for maritime culture, history and heritage. The project will be working with various bodies to promote responsible "diving with a purpose" to conserve our heritage and the rich and varied marine life that can be found beneath our coastal waters. Click on the buttons to the left of this page to navigate around this site, find information and follow or support the ongoing project. There is much work to be done in all areas, both above and below the water, so if you feel that you could contribute in any way, please do not hesitate make contact. Please be sure to visit The Resolution Centre page - Help share and preserve our wealth of maritime history and discover and understand a world of wonderful local marine life and the fragile ecological balance essential to their survival. For related books & DVD's click here to visit the Purser's Choice amazon store as any purchases made help to fund the Project.
